Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua have committed to working together to field a single presidential candidate against President William Ruto in the August 10, 2027 General Election.
The commitment followed a meeting between Kalonzo and Gachagua at the latter’s Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Monday, October 26, 2026.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, the two leaders agreed to bring their political bases together under one banner and pursue partnerships with other like-minded political parties.
WPF Senator Kiio Wambua, the Senate Minority Leader, described the meeting as “a cordial and frank discussion on the future of Kenya.”

Wambua said the leaders were committed to ensuring that their political slogan, WANTAM, becomes a reality in the 2027 elections.
DCP Secretary General-designate and Laikipia Senator John Methu said the visit was a family engagement that required no formal invitation, describing the relationship between the two leaders as extending beyond politics.

Methu added that the two parties were working towards building a stronger political organisation, with their respective leaders expected to agree on a single presidential candidate to challenge Ruto.
He said the coalition would also seek to bring on board other parties whose political objectives align with its agenda.
“We don’t want partners who say, ‘If it’s not him, it’s Ruto.’ That isn’t WANTAM,” Methu said.
The meeting signals continued efforts by opposition-aligned leaders to consolidate their political bases and negotiate a joint presidential candidature ahead of the 2027 General Election.
