Leaders from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the coastal region have strongly criticized opposition figures, accusing them of working against the development and progress of the Coast.
Speaking during a grassroots election awareness campaign in Lamu, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, alongside other regional leaders, claimed that opposition politicians are intent on frustrating development efforts in the region. He argued that such leaders have historically contributed to the marginalization of the Coast and are now attempting to derail ongoing progress.
Omar stated that the region has, for many years, lagged behind due to poor leadership decisions and political alignments that kept it away from the center of government. He warned residents against supporting leaders who, in his view, do not prioritize the economic and social advancement of the Coast.
The UDA leaders emphasized the importance of aligning the region with the national government to maximize access to development projects and resources. They pointed to ongoing infrastructure, education, and economic initiatives as evidence of the benefits of being part of the ruling administration.
They urged residents to remain united and support leaders who are committed to working with the government to improve livelihoods across the region
