DCI Raids Nairobi Bar Linked to Cyrus Jirongo’s Final Hours

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has carried out a search at a well-known bar and restaurant along Magadi Road in Nairobi as part of its ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.

According to investigators, Jirongo was at the establishment just hours before the fatal crash that claimed his life on December 13, 2025 along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway in Karai, Naivasha County.

The police operation on Saturday focused on gathering information about who he met, how long he stayed, and his activities while there. Staff members were questioned, although the bar’s management declined to comment on the raid.

Forensic tracing of Jirongo’s movements suggests he left another restaurant in Karen earlier in the night, then drove toward Lang’ata Road and later stopped at the Magadi Road venue before continuing his journey.

Detectives have so far interviewed more than ten people linked to his movements, but no arrests have been made.

Jirongo died in a head-on collision involving his vehicle and a public service vehicle (PSV) owned by Climax Company Limited at about 2:19 a.m.

Investigators believe the bus struck his car shortly after he exited a nearby petrol station. A postmortem examination at Lee Funeral Home showed he died from severe blunt force trauma to his chest, abdomen and spine.

The bus driver, Tyrus Kamau Githinji, has been released on cash bail pending further investigations into dangerous driving charges and is expected to report back to the Naivasha Traffic Base for continued processing.

As the probe unfolds, police are paying particular attention to Jirongo’s last known engagements, including a gathering at Karen Oasis Bar and Restaurant earlier that evening, in hopes of piecing together a clearer timeline of his final hours.
