A four-year-old girl died after she was crushed by a perimeter wall in Shianda, Mumias, Kakamega County.
Police said the incident happened at Queens Guest House on Thursday morning.
The girl was in the company of her elder sister and was crossing over the perimeter wall into the guest house compound when it collapsed on them.
Police said the elder sister was helping the young girl to cross when a section of the wall fell on her.
She was rushed to a local private hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Police said they are investigating the incident and that the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
In Kapsokwony, Bungoma County, a 23-year-old man was electrocuted while pruning trees at their compound.
This was after a branch of the tree he was pruning fell on live Kenya Power and Lighting cables. Police said Remmy Chemos died from electrocution.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Kenya Power officials visited the scene and assisted in processing it.
Such incidents have been common in rural homes, where people pruning trees are electrocuted in accidents.
In Fort Jesus, Ruiru, Kiambu County, a 25-year-old man collapsed and died in his house after a long drinking session.
The man had on Wednesday night come home late and drunk. He woke up feeling tired and stood up from his bed before collapsing and failing to wake up.
His roommate rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
There was also a double tragedy when a 21-year-old diver died while trying to retrieve the body of another man who had drowned in a pool of water in the Thegu area of Chaka, Nyeri County.
Police said the incident happened on the evening of December 17 at an abandoned quarry.
According to police, 65-year-old Samuel Kabiru was found drowned in the quarry.
The circumstances surrounding Kabiru’s drowning are under investigation, police said.
When police were informed of the incident, they visited the scene and began efforts to retrieve the body.
Two men then volunteered to dive into the water to help remove the body.
Police said one of them, identified as Charles Waithaka, 21, drowned as he and his colleague struggled to locate the body.
The colleague, panicking, exited the water. Police contacted the county fire department, which sent divers who managed to retrieve both bodies.
The bodies were later moved to the mortuary pending autopsies.
Elsewhere in Muhuru Bay, Nyatike, Migori County, the body of a middle-aged man was found floating in Lake Victoria, in a suspected drowning.
The body was discovered on December 17, long after the incident had occurred, police said.
Police said other fishermen in the area spotted the body before it was retrieved and moved to the mortuary pending identification and an autopsy.
