Brazilian football federation has confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti will become the new head coach of the Seleçao.
One of the most accomplished managers in European club football history, the Italian will assume the role on May 26th, according to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The 65-year-old will be the first foreigner to lead the Selecao, and his selection was much anticipated.
Prior to the five-time record champions’ June World Cup qualifying matches against Ecuador and Paraguay, he will assume leadership.
Ancelotti was referred to as “a legend of the game as the most successful manager in football history” in a statement released by the CBF.
“Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil is more than a strategic move. It is a statement to the world that we are determined to reclaim the top spot on the podium. He is the greatest coach in history and, now, he is at the helm of the greatest national team on the planet. Together, we will write new glorious chapters in Brazilian football,” stated Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF.
In this historic moment, two legends, the only five-time FIFA World Cup champions and a coach with an unrivaled record in Europe’s top competitions come together, the statement continued.

Don Carlo as many call him has won five champions League tittles, three with Real Madrid and two with AC Milan, giving Ancelotti a record five Champions League titles as manager.
In addition, he has won domestic championships with Chelsea, Paris St. Germain, and Bayern Munich.
The veteran, whose managing resume also includes stops at Juventus, Napoli, and Everton, is making his first step into international football.
On May 25, Real Sociedad will visit Real Madrid to wrap up their La Liga campaign.
Many people believe that Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid midfielder who is leaving Bayer Leverkusen, will succeed Ancelotti.
He might be in control of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign, which starts in June, if a speedy appointment is made.
