Nyahururu Catholic Bishop, Rev. Joseph Mbatia, has urged national leaders to address the excessive cost of governance, which he says continues to hinder the country’s development.

Speaking during Palm Sunday celebrations at Mary Immaculate Cathedral Church in Nyahururu, Bishop Mbatia decried the presence of leaders who, he claimed, do not have the best interests of the nation at heart. He emphasized the need for prudence and efficiency in leadership, especially during these trying times.

The Bishop led the faithful in commemorating Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, an event symbolized by Palm Sunday and marking the beginning of Holy Week and the final Sunday of Lent. The liturgical color for the day is red, representing the blood Jesus shed on the Cross.

He also called on Christians to uphold the core values of holiness and perfection as taught by Jesus Christ and urged them to pray for the nation, so that peace and sobriety may prevail.

Acknowledging the tough economic and political realities facing Kenya, Bishop Mbatia noted that it has become increasingly difficult for many to remain steadfast in their faith.
