ODM Remains United and Firmly Behind Ruto’s Two-Term Agenda, Raila’s Close Ally Oketch Salah

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) remains strong, united and firmly anchored under its leadership, despite claims of internal divisions, former close ally of the late Raila Odinga has said.

Speaking in West Pokot County, Oketch Salah, the Chairman of the Artisanal and Small Scale Miners Association of Kenya and a long-time ODM member, dismissed reports suggesting cracks within the party, terming them misleading and driven by individuals with personal interests.

Salah was addressing residents and artisanal miners during a peace meeting in the Turkwel area, which brought together members of communities that have previously experienced conflict.

He emphasised that ODM has only one recognised leader, Dr. Oburu Odinga, whom he said will continue to guide the party’s political direction.

“We are solid as a party. ODM is strong, and those talking about leaving are free to do so, but the party remains intact,” Salah said.

He further revealed that the late Raila Odinga had made it clear before his death that ODM would support President William Ruto’s leadership for two terms, extending to 2032.

According to Salah, the party is fully committed to the two-term agenda and will stand by the President in the 2027 General Election.

Beyond politics, Salah called on residents of the North Rift region to embrace peace and coexistence, noting that stability is key to development and economic empowerment, especially for communities dependent on mining and pastoralism.

He also urged locals to register in large numbers as voters, saying participation in the electoral process is a fundamental democratic right and a powerful tool for shaping the country’s future.

The meeting ended with renewed calls for unity, peace and political tolerance across the region.
