Pastor Accused of Swindling KSh 600M Denies Claims, Says He’s Ready to Cooperate with DCI

In the wake of explosive allegations linking him to a massive visa facilitation scam that reportedly defrauded thousands of Kenyans of more than KSh 600 million businessman and self‑described pastor James Wanjohi has publicly denied the accusations and expressed willingness to surrender to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for questioning.

In a video statement obtained by the Insight Report Wanjohi, who has been widely portrayed in media reports as a city preacher, asserted that he has not served as a pastor for over two years and challenged key elements of the exposé.

He maintained that his company, Worthstart Limited has been operational for less than a year, making it implausible that it could have accumulated the huge sums alleged by victims.

“This is a witch‑hunt,” Wanjohi said, claiming that his political rivals were behind the negative publicity and that the accusations were aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

He stressed that his business does offer visa facilitation services, but cautioned that visas are not guaranteed a common reality for many legitimate visa service providers.

Wanjohi also denied ever receiving an official summons from the DCI but stated he was prepared to work with investigators once in Nairobi, having just returned from an overseas trip.

He clarified that while he has built churches and handed them over to other preachers and bishops, he has not actively pastor‑ed a congregation in recent years.

Earlier reports indicated that DCI detectives had raided Worthstart’s offices in Pension Towers, Nairobi as part of preliminary investigations after multiple victims filed statements alleging financial losses while seeking visa assistance.

Wanjohi also hinted at plans to contest the Roysambu Constituency parliamentary seat again, indicating that the controversy may further complicate his public and political profile.
