Karura Forest became a haven of hope on May 10, 2025.
Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) transformed the serene forest into a rallying ground for Kenya’s neglected seniors, hosting a powerful Run for Seniors mock event. This was no ordinary run—it was a cry for action.
Corporate giants and aviation leaders stood together: Jambojet, Safarilink, Centum Re, Amref, Bluebird Aviation, Dragonfly, Jubilee Insurance, Kasas Air, Hawk Aviation, Renegade Air, Futuresoft, Safezone Auto Parts, and 748 Air Services. They did not just show up—they stood up.
MIC Director Amb. Amina Mohamed reminded the crowd why they had gathered. “We are here because our elders deserve dignity. They deserve care, not neglect. They gave us everything—now it’s our turn.”
Her words were echoed by MIC President Ahmed Jibril. “This is not just a run. It’s a fight for those who built this nation, those who were there when Kenya was just an idea.” His message was clear—this is not charity, it is justice.
The mock event is a precursor to the main Run for Seniors, scheduled for July 11, 2025. The funds raised will provide essential monthly food baskets and medical care for over 1,000 elderly beneficiaries in Isiolo and Kakamega Counties.
748 Air Services Managing Director, Moses Mwangi, urged more organizations to join. “This is not about us. It’s about them—those who once carried this country on their shoulders. Register, run, and make a difference.”
But it wasn’t just about running. The event was a message—a reminder that the elderly are not invisible. In a society obsessed with youth, MIC is fighting to make sure the elderly are not forgotten.
“Every step we take is a step towards dignity for our seniors,” said Gladys Wanjiru Mburu, Centum Re Property Management. “We must never forget those who came before us.”
MIC’s work does not end with the run. It continues with every meal, every medical check-up, and every act of kindness they extend to the elderly. It is a reminder that a society is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable.
