Government Unveils Plans for World-Class 10,000-Seater Stadium at Uwanja wa Water

In a bold step towards empowering youth and transforming grassroots sports, the Government through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and the Creative Economy, has partnered with the County Government of Kilifi to construct a modern 10,000-seater stadium at Uwanja wa Water in Kilifi.

Speaking on the project, Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya confirmed the stadium will be built to meet international standards, creating a platform not only for local athletes to train and compete but also for Kilifi to host regional and international sporting events.

“This facility will become a hub for talent development and sports advancement at the grassroots level, aligning with the vision of His Excellency President William Ruto to empower youth through sports and infrastructure,” said Mvurya.

The CS revealed that technical teams from both the national and county governments have been directed to harmonize the design framework and spatial requirements to ensure the project begins without delay. Once finalized, the construction is expected to take 10 months.
