Mama Ibado Charity Secures KSh 3 Million KCB Sponsorship for Run 4 Seniors

Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) has received a KSh 3 million sponsorship from KCB in support of the second edition of the Run 4 Seniors initiative, set for July 18, 2026, at Karura Forest in Nairobi.

The annual charity run, organised by Mama Ibado Charity, brings together corporates, families, fitness enthusiasts and well-wishers to raise awareness and mobilise resources for the welfare, healthcare and dignity of vulnerable senior citizens across Kenya.

The sponsorship underscores growing collaboration between the private sector and grassroots charitable organisations working to improve the lives of elderly persons.

Speaking during the sponsorship handover ceremony, Run 4 Seniors Chairman Moses Mwangi said the support from KCB reflects increasing recognition of the importance of elderly care in society.

“This sponsorship is a strong statement that our senior citizens matter. Through Run 4 Seniors, we are not only promoting healthy living and community engagement, but also rallying society to support the dignity, care and wellbeing of older persons,” Mwangi said in part.

Mama Ibado Charity President Ahmed Jibril said the partnership will significantly strengthen ongoing programmes targeting elderly citizens, particularly in healthcare, nutrition and psychosocial support.

“As we age, health challenges become inevitable. For seniors who struggle to afford basic necessities such as food, accessing healthcare can become an overwhelming hurdle. Our Seniors Healthcare Program seeks to bridge this gap by providing the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care they need,” he said.

This year’s event will feature 5 km, 10 km and 15 km race categories

He added that through its Seniors Feeding Program, Mama Ibado Charity has supported more than 2,000 seniors over the years, positively impacting over 5,000 household members who depend on them.

KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo said the bank remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote dignity and inclusion for vulnerable members of society.

“At KCB, we believe that a caring society is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable members. Our sponsorship of the second edition of the Run 4 Seniors initiative reflects our commitment to supporting the wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of senior citizens in our communities,” said Njonjo.

The second edition of Run 4 Seniors is expected to attract hundreds of participants from across the country, building on the success of the inaugural event.

This year’s race will feature 5 km, 10 km and 15 km categories aimed at promoting wellness while raising awareness on healthy ageing and social inclusion.

Mama Ibado Charity and KCB have called on corporates, institutions and members of the public to register and participate in the event as part of a collective effort to support and uplift Kenya’s senior citizens.
