Transparency International Kenya (TI-Kenya) will on September 19, 2026, hold the Move for Integrity 2026, an 8-kilometre Integrity Walk and 10-kilometre Integrity Run aimed at rallying Kenyans around the fight against corruption, transparency and accountability.
The event, scheduled to take place at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, will start and finish at Freedom Corner and bring together citizens, runners, families, learning institutions, corporates, civil society organisations, government institutions and development partners.
It will be held under the theme, “Moving Together for Transparency and Access to Information in the Digital Age,” coinciding with the global commemoration of the International Day for Universal Access to Information.
TI-Kenya says the initiative is an evolution of its annual Integrity Walkathon, which it has convened since 2017 as a public engagement and fundraising platform promoting ethical leadership, transparency and accountability.
The 2025 Integrity Walkathon attracted more than 1,000 participants and over 50 institutional partners, according to the concept note.
Unlike a conventional sporting event, Move for Integrity 2026 is designed as a broader civic movement combining wellness, advocacy, public engagement and fundraising.
The funds raised will support TI-Kenya’s anti-corruption programmes, including civic education, legal aid for victims and witnesses of corruption, whistleblower protection and the establishment and strengthening of Integrity Clubs in learning institutions across the country.
The event will feature four participation categories: the 8Km Integrity Walk, the 10Km Integrity Run, a Corporate Integrity Challenge and a Virtual Participation Category for supporters unable to attend physically.
Under its core message, “Every Move Builds Integrity. Every Step Counts,” the campaign seeks to emphasise that every registration, sponsorship, donation and kilometre covered can contribute to anti-corruption efforts and the development of future ethical leaders.
A key focus of the 2026 movement will be the Integrity Clubs Initiative, which seeks to instil values of integrity, transparency, accountability and civic responsibility among learners.
The initiative will support Integrity Clubs in secondary schools and universities, providing platforms for values-based learning, youth leadership, research, advocacy and discussions on governance and anti-corruption.
The organisers say the event will also prioritise inclusivity, with participation encouraged among persons with disabilities, children and youth, women, community groups, families and learning institutions.
A Kids’ Corner, online integrity pledges, social media campaigns and virtual challenges are also planned to widen participation beyond those physically attending the event.
Participants in the 8km walk and 10km run will move through several symbolic locations and public institutions in Nairobi, including the Integrity Centre, Daystar University, Nairobi Area Police Station, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions headquarters and Parliament Buildings.
According to the organisers, the route is intended to reinforce the role of institutions and citizens in promoting accountability, justice and ethical governance.
Activities planned for the day include exhibitions, speeches, delivery of petitions, entertainment, free health check-ups and Integrity Pledge Stations where participants will commit to upholding integrity in their daily lives.
Registration will open at 6am, followed by an opening ceremony at 7am. Runners are scheduled to start at 8am, while the walkathon will begin at 8:30am.
TI-Kenya says safety measures will include coordination with the National Police Service and Nairobi City County, medical and emergency support, volunteer marshals, hydration and sanitation facilities, as well as secure digital systems for registration and communication.
Beyond the event, the organisation plans to measure its impact through participation levels, funds mobilised, partnerships formed, support for Integrity Clubs and commitments made towards anti-corruption and accountability initiatives.
The organisers are inviting corporates, development partners, government agencies, civil society organisations, educational institutions, media organisations and other stakeholders to support the movement through sponsorship, donations, participation and in-kind contributions.
As the September event approaches, the campaign’s message remains simple ; every step can count towards building a more transparent, accountable and ethical Kenya.
