A Form Three student at Chuka Girls High School identified as 16 year old Cynthia Mwende, died after allegedly hanging herself inside St. Angela’s dormitory at the school yesterday evening.
According to Police Commander Zacheaus Ng’eno, the motive behind the student’s alleged suicide remains unknown. Her parents arrived at the school yesterday evening and are still engaging with the school management as investigations continue.
Ng’eno said the student’s body had no visible injuries or marks. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Efforts by journalists to reach the school’s principal, Mrs. Harriet Kinyua, for comment were unsuccessful, as she declined to speak to the media about the incident.
