Residents of Sigowet in Kericho County were treated to an unusual spectacle after a suspected thief allegedly became trapped inside a chimney while attempting to escape from a house he had reportedly broken into.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect is believed to have gained access to the house during the morning hours. However, his alleged theft was interrupted after residents raised the alarm, prompting him to flee.
In a desperate attempt to evade capture, the suspect reportedly climbed onto the roof and tried to escape through the house’s chimney.

His plan backfired when he became wedged halfway inside the narrow chimney, leaving him unable to move either upwards or downwards.
His cries for help soon attracted curious residents, who gathered at the scene as word of the bizarre incident spread throughout the village.
After several hours, villagers, assisted by local authorities, managed to rescue the man from the chimney.
He was later handed over to police for further investigations. Witnesses said he appeared bruised, covered in soot and visibly shaken following the ordeal.
The unusual incident has since sparked widespread discussion in Sigowet, with many residents describing it as one of the most bizarre attempted escapes they have witnessed.
Police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident or disclosed whether any charges have been preferred against the suspect.
