Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Jeremiah Kioni has reaffirmed the party’s support for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, declaring him the party’s presidential candidate as the opposition steps up preparations for the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at the Jubilee Command Centre in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua County, while receiving a delegation from Ngobit Ward in Laikipia County, Kioni said Jubilee had shifted from criticizing the Kenya Kwanza administration to actively marketing Matiang’i’s presidential bid and strengthening the party’s grassroots structures.
“We are now campaigning for our presidential candidate. We are selling our presidential candidate,” Kioni said.
He added that the party is working to establish strong leadership structures across the country to popularise both Jubilee and its presidential agenda ahead of the 2027 polls.
Kioni said Jubilee would campaign on its development record, arguing that the party had demonstrated its ability to deliver during its time in government.
He described Matiang’i as a decisive and results-driven leader capable of addressing key national challenges, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, unemployment and the growing mental health crisis.

According to Kioni, Kenya requires firm leadership that can strengthen accountability within government and ensure public institutions deliver services efficiently.
The Ngobit Ward delegation, led by Ndiritu Wachira Wagacheru, pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation in Laikipia County by opening more Jubilee offices and expanding the party’s support base.
The leaders said they would rally support for Matiang’i, whom they described as the opposition’s preferred presidential candidate, while expressing confidence that stronger grassroots networks would position Jubilee as a formidable force ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Jubilee has in recent months intensified nationwide mobilisation as political parties continue positioning themselves for the next election, with opposition leaders seeking to consolidate support behind a single presidential candidate.
