The County Government of Machakos has led stakeholders in a clean-up exercise across Machakos Municipality as part of activities to mark Mazingira Week.
They covered Mulu Mutisya Gardens around the TTOT area, the Machakos Bus Park and its surroundings, Muthini Estate, and areas extending to Machakos University.
The initiative brought together government agencies, development partners and other stakeholders, including NEMA, KeNHA, KeRRA, Machakos University, Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Red Cross, TARDA, KARLO and the Water Resources Authority.
The exercise was coordinated by the Department of Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Environment and Climate Change, represented by Chief Officer Albert Wambua, alongside Machakos Municipal Manager Judah Mumo, the County Commissioner’s representative Gathogo Washira, administrators and other stakeholders.
The county says the clean-up is part of efforts to promote environmental responsibility and sustain a cleaner, greener and healthier Machakos Municipality.
