Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has launched a scathing attack on the opposition, describing it as disorganized and lacking the strength to challenge the Kenya Kwanza administration ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at a political gathering, Mudavadi dismissed the opposition as “moto wa karatasi” (a paper fire), saying it poses no real threat to the ruling coalition.
“The opposition that we have now is confused. They are like a paper fire. We will conduct a campaign the likes of which these people have never seen,” said Mudavadi.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary expressed confidence that Kenya Kwanza is well-prepared for an aggressive nationwide campaign aimed at consolidating its support across the country.
At the same time, Mudavadi cautioned politicians against exploiting ethnic divisions for political gain, insisting that Kenya’s unity must take precedence over tribal interests.
“Let us avoid tribalism. Kenya is not a nation of tribes; Kenya is one nation. We will not allow people to spread tribal politics, and we do not want to elect leaders based on ethnicity,” he said.
His remarks come amid heightened political activity as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the next election, with national leaders increasingly calling for issue-based politics and national cohesion instead of ethnic mobilization.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary urged Kenyans to reject divisive politics and support leaders who prioritize unity, development, and the country’s shared future.
