Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has officially launched his campaign to succeed Governor Julius Malombe in the 2027 gubernatorial race, setting the stage for what is expected to be a fiercely contested battle for the county’s top seat.
Wambua is unveiling his gubernatorial bid today in an event attended by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, giving the launch an added political dimension as parties and politicians begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Sifuna’s presence at the event is particularly significant with the Senator among opposition figures seeking to build political alliances ahead of the polls.
Enoch Wambua had first declared his intention to contest the Kitui governorship in August 2025, but indicated at the time that the formal campaign launch would come later.
The senator is seeking to move from the Senate to the county’s top executive office, as he pitches his leadership agenda to Kitui voters.
