ODM Party leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has been advised by medical professionals in the United Kingdom to step back from active politics.
Reports emanating from the UK indicate Oburu has been requested to refrain from active and intensive engagements.
This latest advice would suggest contesting future elective posts could be in Jeopardy due to health complications associated with advanced age.
The medical advice comes during Dr. Oburu’s extended stay in Britain for treatment, following his delegation of day-to-day leadership responsibilities within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to deputy party leaders Simba Arati (Kisii Governor) and Abdulswamad Nassir (Mombasa Governor).
Dr. Oburu’s prolonged absence has coincided with increasing internal political realignments within Nyanza.
His public service career spans over five decades, including service as a Kisumu municipal councillor from 1974.
