Kenya Pipeline Women’s Volleyball Team emerged champions of the annual Rwanda Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament after defeating hosts APR in straight sets in Sunday’s final.
The Oilers delivered a dominant performance to overcome the Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR) side 3-0, winning 25-17, 25-20 and 25-15 to lift the prestigious title.
Pipeline controlled the match from the opening set, showcasing their experience and attacking prowess to keep the home side at bay throughout the contest.

APR, coached by Kenyan tactician Justine Kigwari, struggled to match the intensity and quality displayed by the Kenyan champions as Pipeline cruised to victory in Kigali.
Kigwari is a respected figure in Kenyan volleyball and previously coached national secondary school champions Kwanthanze Secondary School before taking up his role with the Rwandan side.
The triumph marks another successful outing for Kenya Pipeline on the regional stage as they continue to cement their status as one of East Africa’s volleyball powerhouses.
The tournament, held annually in remembrance of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, attracts some of the region’s top volleyball clubs and serves as a key preparatory competition ahead of domestic league assignments.
Following their success in Rwanda, Kenya Pipeline will now turn their attention to the upcoming Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League quarterfinal playoffs.
The playoffs are scheduled to take place from June 26 to 28 in Mombasa County, where Pipeline will be seeking to continue their impressive form and strengthen their bid for the national title.
