Former Laikipia Governor and Kenya Revenue Authority Board Chairperson Ndiritu Muriithi has officially launched his bid to reclaim the Laikipia gubernatorial seat, promising to champion issue-based politics and development ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Muriithi made the declaration on Saturday in Nyahururu Town during the official launch of his gubernatorial campaign on the Kenya Reforms Party ticket.
He called on political leaders and residents to maintain peace during the electioneering period, urging candidates to focus their campaigns on issues, development and the needs of the people rather than confrontation and divisive politics.
Muriithi also cautioned young people against allowing themselves to be used by politicians to perpetrate violence or disrupt communities during the campaign period.
He urged the youth to play a constructive role in the democratic process by promoting peaceful coexistence while pursuing opportunities that can improve their livelihoods.
The former governor said the Kenya Reforms Party is committed to building an inclusive political movement that brings together Kenyans from all communities.
He said the party’s agenda is anchored on inclusive leadership, national unity, peaceful coexistence and development-driven politics.
Muriithi urged Laikipia residents to scrutinise the track record and development agenda of candidates as they make their choices ahead of the 2027 elections.
He cited his previous experience as both a Member of Parliament and Governor, saying his record in leadership demonstrates his understanding of the challenges facing residents.
If elected, Muriithi said his administration would prioritise infrastructure development, improved access to water, strengthening of markets and better service delivery across the county.
