Husband arrested in Kayole after allegedly stabbing wife to death in kiambu

Detectives have arrested a man who had been on the run after allegedly fatally stabbing his wife in Mwihoko, Kiambu County.

The suspect, identified as 59-year-old Charles Maina Karungae Kibue, was apprehended in Kayole following a police manhunt launched after the incident that occurred on June 14, 2026.

According to police reports, a domestic dispute broke out at a shop belonging to 47-year-old Elizabeth Wambui in the Delta area of Mwihoko Township.

During the altercation, Kibue allegedly stabbed Wambui on the right side of the chest using a spearhead before fleeing the scene.

Police officers who responded to the incident found Wambui lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries.

She was rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) for treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Her body was later transferred to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

Investigators recovered a bloodstained spearhead believed to have been used in the attack and secured it as evidence.

Following the incident, detectives launched a search operation for the suspect, who had disappeared immediately after the stabbing.

Using forensic leads and intelligence gathering, officers tracked him to a hideout in Kayole, where he was arrested.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.

Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
